Topics Covered: This course reviews the hematological system and provides an overview on the spectrum of hematological cancers. The pathophysiology of hematological malignancies such as leukemias, lymphomas and myeloma are discussed along with their common treatments such as high dose chemotherapy and total body irradiation. The issues and complications of bone marrow and stem cell transplant will be reviewed. Matters relating to clinical trial issues including ethical considerations and FDA directives will be examined. Case studies and open discussion will form an integral part of the program.
