Joy of the Little Soul is my first painting after breast cancer. It is meditative with each unique moment, mark and breath. There is a visual subtlety and rhythm to it, an aliveness and awareness. Layer upon layer comes through underneath, building upon itself. That's its history -- quiet and contemplative with inner peace and calm. My painting is a private search within myself -- not so different from cancer. It's an uncovering of who I am and where I'm going, and it expresses depth of knowledge. Art is my soul's voice, its sight and heart. It gave me focus, strength and courage to face all those challenges of having breast cancer.
