Portrait of the Artist pen and ink 8.25 x 6.625 inches 1990

My work with this particular idea, "Portrait of the Artist," began in 1985. I had been to visit my close friend and mentor, Arnie Bittleman, for what we both knew would be the last time. He was shortly to die of brain cancer.

It is the work of art that I find indispensable. The process of image-making enables me not only to preserve memories, but also to arrive at understandings and derive meaning from my life's experiences.
