Patient Education Center

The Patient and Family Education Center is getting a fall makeover! You may start noticing the drug teaching sheets are being redone, using a consistent format and updating the side effect and administration information. They should be complete by late Fall. Next up is the side effect handouts, which will have their format standardized and the content updated. Is there one you'd like to see on the list? Just let us know.

Have you seen the OncoLink Rx Regimen Printer? It is an easy way to print teaching sheets for multi-drug regimens. Just choose the regimen you want and all the drug information sheets for that regimen will be combined and pop-up in one printer friendly document. To avoid confusion when a regimen is used for different cancer types, but referred to by different acronyms, some regimens are listed by the main component. For instance, all platinum regimens are grouped together.

Why Do You Do What You Do?

Do you ever think about the effect you have on your patients every day? Bob Riter, Executive Director of the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes, asked a group of patients how their nurses made their cancer experience easier. OncoLink at ASTRO 2011

Did you know that OncoLink sends reporters to the major professional society meetings? These reporters attend important sessions and report on the findings presented- allowing you to "be there" without really being there! October Webchats

Our monthly webchats address useful topics with the help of a panel of knowledgeable experts. October is a busy webchat month! On Friday the 14th, we will be hosting a chat with Lung Cancer experts at 12:15PM EDT and a Mesothelioma expert panel at 1:45PM EDT. On October 28th, the focus is women, with the Focus on Gynecologic Cancers chat at 11:45AM EDT and the Life After Breast Cancer chat at 1:15PM EDT. No registration is needed, just come to the page at the event time. Hope you will join us and bring your questions for our panels!

What's New with the LIVESTRONG Care Plan?

We are very excited to announce version 8 of the LIVESTRONG Care Plan, which launched last week. The most noticeable additions include all new modern and clean styling and the addition of a healthcare provider summary that patients can share with their PCP. You will find the healthy living after cancer content has been greatly expanded to meet the IOM's survivorship care plan criteria. We hope this will help bridge the gap as patients transition to survivorship.
