If I have a melanoma lesion removed, could others develop?

About 11% of people who have a melanoma have a second melanoma diagnosed within the next 2 years after their diagnosis. The increased risk to develop a second melanoma persists for more than 20 years. So keep a close watch on your skin.

Apr 1, 2010 - Melanoma survivors have a substantially higher risk of developing subsequent melanoma, as well as a higher risk of developing several other types of cancer, according to research published in the March issue of the Archives of Dermatology.
