Protecting Yourself While Immunocompromised

Knowing that kids tend to be continuously sick, how can someone who is immune compromised be best protected but still spend time with their grandchildren?

Christina Bach, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, Oncology Social Worker at Penn Medicine, responds:

You should ABSOLUTELY enjoy your grandchildren!

The most important thing to remember is HANDWASHING HANDWASHING HANDWASHING!

This is great habit to instill in kids from an early age. Keep alcohol based hand santizer handy; in the car, in your bag, in the office...where ever hand washing may be necessary.

This is the best way to prevent the spread of germs; immunocompromised or not.
