Sarah Dees is a professional artist. Her web site is www.sarahdees.com. Acrylic on canvas, 38" x 46" This painting symbolizes "everywoman" going through cancer. The colors show her pain and suffering and the flowers are cancer tumors. Her missing breast is from breast cancer, and her hair is falling out from chemo. She has a port in her chest like I did, and the cactus flowers are radiation burns like I had. Still, she is a survivor, strong, beautiful, facing forward. I wanted to show that she is going through the journey of cancer treatment, but hopeful for a positive future. The painting reflected how I felt at the time, still not sure if I would recover, but inspired to keep trying to get well. This painting was donated to the Gulfcoast Oncological Foundation.
