Right Breast of the Amazon Warrior

Title: "Right Breast of the Amazon Warrior"
Artist: Judi "JuJu" Blue

The derivation of the word "Amazon" is "a-mazos", which means "without a breast". Myth has it that Amazons had their right breast cut off or burned off, so they would be able to use a bow and arrow more accurately and throw spears without the physical limitation and obstruction. I stand at 5'9" and I am an Amazon Warrior. I painted this picture with my breast and it is my interpretation of how my breast reacted to the radiation and chemotherapy I received for breast cancer while I was in the fight of my life....the fight for survival. I coped with breast cancer by turning my paintings into postcards with encouraging words which I would mail to women who people would tell me about who were recently diagnosed with cancer. I felt that I had a purpose so I HAD to survive in order to be a brighter beacon to others in the storm. (I made calendars this year with several of my images from my paintings.) Thank you for letting me tell my story.
