The summer of 1993 was the summer of radiation. I'd had a
malignant lump removed from my breast. Even though the radiation
only took a few minutes, the hour- and-a-half drive from our home
made it take the better part of four hours out of our day.
Obviously, this left me little time to be in my studio.
When I did get to my studio, it was a joy. I worked on Agaza all
summer. When it was finished, I experienced a great sense of
fulfillment. I had put the cancer behind me and created something
new.
