What is an MIBG Scan
What is MIBG and how is it different than an OctreoScan?
Katie Fanslau, RN, MSN, Nurse in Nuclear Medicine at Penn Medicine responds.MIBG scans are also done in nuclear medicine and take 2 days to complete. MIBG is a different targeting agent attached to radiation to locate and assess neuroendocrine tumors. MIBG scans are done either to help diagnosis a NET, assess disease after surgery or other intervention, or assess uptake in preparation for MIBG therapy.
