Survivors' Guide to Breast Cancer is an inspirational story about one couple's experience through the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Above all it is a story of love and hope. Robert C. Fore, Ed.D. is the Associate Dean for Graduate and Continuing Education at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Rorie E. Fore, R.N. is a surgical nurse at the same institution.

Robert and Rorie kept separate diaries from the time of diagnosis of Rorie's breast cancer. From these diaries, the couple has been able to tell their story through the perspectives of patient and husband. Each chapter represents a time period in the diagnosis and treatment of Rorie's breast cancer. The reader experiences the emotions and thoughts of both Robert and Rorie throughout diagnostic testing, bilateral mastectomies, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and breast reconstruction. Each person tells the story through his or her own eyes.

The couple brings the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer to a very personal level. They show the impact that family, friends, and coworkers had on their lives throughout the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. They also show how important it is for medical personnel at every level to be supportive and caring.

This book is an intimate account of how this couple faced breast cancer together. It is a 'must read' for cancer patients, loved ones, and caregivers. Survivors' Guided to Breast Cancer is highly recommended by OncoLink.
