Living on Nerves and Feeling
steel book (mixed media paintings in moveable steel frames)
17 x 30 x 14 inches
New York, New York

What Is This Work About?

It's about struggling to survive,
About being a prisoner of one's body,
About confirming life in the face of death.

It's about knowing and not knowing.
About patients and doctors,
About public and private personae,
About anxiety, fear, and loss.

It's about the fight of one family
To save one person, and the struggle,
Courage, and spirit of one woman.

It's about hospitals and disease,
Conflict and uncertainty.

It's about family, strength, nurturing,
and love.

And it's about melancholia,
Fluctuations between chaos and calm,
Finding one's self again,
And getting back to life.

These works are dedicated
In loving memory
To my mother, Rosalyn Belloff.
