Surgical Procedures: Splenectomy Due to Cancer

Splenectomy is surgical removal of the spleen. The spleen is an organ that is responsible for blood filtrations, blood cell storage and fighting infections. Surgical removal of the spleen is sometimes used in the treatment of lymphomas and leukemias.
