Treatment Options

A nephrectomy is a surgical procedure in which all or part of one or both kidneys is removed. It is used in the treatment of kidney cancer. How much of the kidney that is removed will be determined by your provider as part of your treatment plan.

Although not often used in the treatment of kidney cancer, radiation therapy can at times be used to treat kidney cancer or as treatment for metastasis. This article is an introduction to radiation therapy for kidney cancer and the potential side effects of treatment.
